IQ: I’ll Show you mine if you show me yours

Well I have been a little distracted by our family drama, but I did want to take some fun time and answer Interview Questions put out from my bloggy friend Texan Mama. You have to go read her hilarious and often insightful blog that I cannot seem to get enough of. She and another blogger I read obsessively (Dorsey) have me seething with jealousy because they both got to spend Saturday evening with a fun girl’s night out with Dallas area bloggers. Okay, who are you people besides me who blog in south Texas…..find me and let’s get together…..I feel so left out! Anyway on to the great questions.

1.What’s the best birthday present you’ve ever gotten?

Actually John Mark is usually wonderful and always gets me a fabulous birthday gift. He just loves to spoil me with just what I need at the moment. It can be Spa days, trips, new wardrobe, or jewelry……he just does the perfect thing.
2.What is your astrological sign?
I am a Gemini….which kind of explains my need to have attention ( by blogging and being adored) but on the flip side my absolute desire for privacy and anonymity…..which is why I won’t post pictures of myself or join places like facebook or classmates.com
3.If you won a prize of $10,000 and you didn’t have to pay taxes on it, what would you do with the money?
I would have a pool built for Regan and I, swimming is both of our favorite joys in life, and Regan’s favorite way of doing therapy. I hope in our future home that we can find a way to budget one being built.
4.Can you name the current heads of state of at least 5 world countries? (President, Prime Minister, etc.) NO CHEATING GETTING THE ANSWER FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Barack Obama, Queen Elizabeth ( actually she is the leader of at least five countries England, Australia, Bahamas, Jamaica, and New Zealand….so I am okay technically)
5.Where did you lose your virginity? (only be as specific as you want to be)
Ummmmm, my girls sometimes read this blog as do several family members so I will politely decline the question.
6.Why did you start blogging?
I actually started three years ago when I wanted to write product reviews, but I lost track of it pretty quickly. When I came back to it last summer I just found myself writing every random occurring thought, I find it very therapeutic.
7.Who was the first singing group/artist whose cassette/CD/8-track YOU bought (with your own money)?
I thing it was Yaz, “Upstairs at Eric’s”. I loved that tape so much, and still know every song on there.
8.How do you wake up in the morning?
I wake up ready to go with my day. I pop up bouncing and singing in to my girls room (which annoys them greatly)….it is really funny because my Dad used to wake my sister and I up every day by singing to us, and I do that a lot with my girls too.
9.When was the last time you wrote someone a letter?
It was probably when my grandma went on her “Walk to Emmaus”. I am not a letter writer and never have been, it just is not my thing. Although I own letters from family and friends that I cherish very deeply.
10.Name 3 things you’d like to do before you die, that you haven’t already done.
I would love to go on the Amazing Race….or actually have my own around the world adventure…not sure I would really want to put myself on television, but I love to travel and see other cultures and it is my favorite show ever.
I would love to bungee jump from a bridge over a river or possibly skydive.
I would really enjoy sailing for several months around the Caribbean on my own boat and living it up “Buffet” style with cares or worries

Daiqmos Anyone?

Last May for my birthday my sister gave me a case of TGI Fridays mixers to go with my Margeritaville Frozen Concoction Maker. We have slowly been making our way through all the different mixers and flavors, because I am, after all, and equal opportunity drinker. It just completely depends on my mood and season to decide what I would like to enjoy in the evening while I do some blog and computer work.

Rebecca has also gotten to be quite the mixologist in a very non-alcoholic version. Because all of the mixers actually taste delicious on their own and have no alcohol in them. This summer she was a Margarita girl. She loves tart lemon lime citrus, and made herself virgin ritas all the time….although we forbade her from telling people she was drinking margarita mix. We just called them lemon-lime freezes.

This fall I was settling into cosmopolitan mode and have been slowly making my way through my mix. Rebecca who has never been a cran fan tried a non alcoholic frozen cosmo and declared it her new favorite pink drink. Yesterday she asked me if she could make frozen cosmos with the concoction maker, and I gave her the thumbs up from the living room while I was busy doing my EC drops. She gives me a large plastic cup filled with frozen pink loveliness…complete with an umbrella, and declares she has made some recipe changes. I quickly frown at her and remind her she is not allowed to touch anything in the bar. She assures me she did not, but since she ran out of the cosmo mix, she had decided to add some strawberry daiquiri to the blender. She officially introduced her new drink the frozen Daiqmo. She was so proud of herself for being innovative….but honestly I am more concerned with her ability to mix a drink!

KINeSYS Review and Giveaway.

My girls are in full out outdoor mode since it is April and 80 degree weather already. Regan and I both have such fair skin (I blame the German background) and Rebecca was fortunate enough to inherit more of the Native American skin that runs through John Mark’s side of the family. Regardless of your skin type though, proper sun care is of utmost importance for our family.

You can imagine how thrilled I was when the Family Review Network asked me to review KINeSYS sunscreen products. They have worked hard to make the ideal sunscreen for your active kids. The kind that doesn’t sweat off during the ballgame or wash off in the pool. Here is what the folks at KINeSYS had to say:

“countless tests and trials have led to the KINeSYS line of Performance Sunscreens, which exceed the requirements of professional athletes and active individuals regardless of skill or age.”

So when Regan is running track or Rebecca is playing softball I trust that they will be protected and that is confidence that I have not been able to say about a many sunscreens we have tried before. For and active Family a sunscreen that holds up to South Texas Sun is a must. My girls loved the smell of the spf 30 girl. It is a vanilla green tea scent that just smells yummy.

Want to order KINeSYS? I’ve got a discount code for you!! Use code BRC10 for 10% off your order, and free shipping on orders over $45 (after discount.) Here is a great tip: they take PayPal, which I personally find so convenient at online retailers.

Want to win your own bottle of KINeSYS. You can win a 4 oz. KIDS SPF30 Alcohol Free Sunscreen Spray and a 4 oz. Performance Moisturizer with SPF 15 to try for yourself. This giveaway is open to US residents only and will be close April 27, midnight CST. If you are entering this giveaway anonymously please leave an email address where you can be reached.

Fromage Snob

Ok, I confess….I am a cheese snob. As I snack while I type from a wedge of Brie and a few of Carr’s crackers; it occurs to me that I am a complete and utter cheese snob. I know real cheese is never orange, in fact I love cheddar, but did you know that they dye it that orange color…just for Americans? Everyone else in the world eats white undyed cheddar.

I don’t have anything personally against such things as Kraft American Cheese Slices, bricks of Velveeta, or Cheese Wiz, but I don’t understand the justification to call it cheese. If it is overprocessed and preserved like crazy, and only comes in bright orange…can we come up with something else to name it?

I think the world should embrace cheese in all it’s glory and fantastic flavors, from buttery Swiss, to Camembert, and my personal favorite the difficult to find Deux de Montagne. My sweet sister likes to surprise me with the last one when I come visit her in Austin, because she can easily find it at Whole Foods or Central Market.

As my 10 yr old steals my last Brie covered cracker, I realize I am also raising cheese snobs…. I promise to teach them tolerance of all you Cheese Wiz eaters.

Tuesday and Contemplating

I actually should get the official random Tuesday meme that is floating around blogosphere…but for some reason I am lazy this morning, and can’t be bothered. I am so completely sidetracked with obsessively reading through the Pitch Bloggers forum, and finally figuring out how to use Twitter successfully that I can’t be bothered with much else.

In honor of my sheer laziness, I have decided to let my dirt and dust just mingle and cohabitate. Then one day they will give birth to new dust (and possibly a bit of mold and mildew). Then they can have big family reunions at my house. If I believe Dr. Suess and “Horton Hears a Who” then in reality I am saving millions of lives by not cleaning my house this morning.

Here is my final contemplation….Tomorrow is my anniversary, and I was thinking (don’t get to excited) of posting one of my wedding pictures. So technically in my wordless/wordful Wednesday post you could see a picture of me for the first time in blogosphere…..but it would not be recent….and I am still contemplating. The problem is while I have a beautiful family, I am the unphotogenic one of the bunch (just ask my family…they will tell you). SO as I said it is just a contemplation, I’ll decide later…after I watch the dust/dirt porn that is swirling around me.

Oh wait….one more rambling: don’t you hate it when you have a zit right inside your nostril? You really can’t mess with it because it looks like you are picking your nose, and it is really a painful location. Time to break out Acnetix, and hopefully that will do the trcik….You would think at 36 I would be so past that stage.
