My grandmother has dedicated many years to keeping and researching our family history. She has extraordinary amounts of information and paperwork to prove family lineage. One of the best ways to show proof of family history is to get a death certificate copy, to show that an ancestor existed. If you are doing your research in the Lone Star State then what you need is Texas death records it is nice to not have to track down and go to court houses personally to get these records. I am sending this link to my grandmother to help her research a few of her dead ends (no pun intended).
