Juice Plus Review and Giveaway

I am more than willing to admit we are a house divided. John Mark and Regan are meat and potato people, while Rebecca and I are fruit and veggie people. I love fresh fruits and vegetables, and a lot of my groceries are from the produce section….but getting the other half of the family to actually eat them is another story.

Several years ago I heard about JuicePlus on the Oprah Winfrey Show in fact it was one of her favorite things. Then my sister and her family started taking them and I got the real information. The people at juice plus understand that vitamins and supplements do not work because they have extracted them from the fruits and vegetables where they originally belonged. Instead the revolutionized the health industry by dehydrating down to powder whole fruits and vegetables in their full original form. Each capsule contains 7 fruits (red bottle) and 10 vegetables (green bottle) in each capsule…..WOW! Here is what the company has to say.

Juice Plus+® . . .The Concept
Vegetable gardens. Fruit orchards. They give us nature’s bounty and provide the foundation for healthy living and good nutrition.

The latest dietary guidelines and clinical research consistently emphasize that people need to eat more fruits and vegetables to improve their chances of living long and healthy lives. And scientists learn more every day about the nutritional power packed into every tomato, cranberry, and piece of broccoli. Antioxidants. Phytonutrients. Vitamins. Fiber. And more.

Juice Plus+ provides the nutrition from 17 different fruits, vegetables, and grains in convenient and inexpensive capsule form. Juice Plus+ Orchard Blend contains seven of the most nutritious fruits around: apples, oranges, pineapple, cranberries, peaches, acerola cherries, and papaya. Juice Plus+ Garden Blend contains ten nutrient-dense vegetables and grains: carrots, parsley, beets, kale, broccoli, cabbage, spinach, tomatoes, and rice bran and oat bran.

Taking Juice Plus+ capsules every day provides the nutritional foundation we so desperately need that is so lacking in our diets today

In my personal experience we have been taking our capsules daily for two years now. The girls have been a lot healthier in that they very rarely miss school, have colds/flu/viruses. Regan has had better focus, less allergy problems, regular bowel movements, and she works better in school. I have been really healthy with no major illnesses for two years, I have a lot of energy. For my mother it has helped boost her immune system….but don’t just take my word for it.

One of the things that makes JuicePlus amazing is the independent research done by major universities and research associations. Including studies in the Journal of Nutrition and backing from the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Association. It is also highly endorsed by my favorite renowned pediatrician Dr. Sears.

Now you can try it on your own and see the results for yourself. One winner on this blog will get the choice of one of these JuicePlus products:

One Month Adult supply capsules (one red bottle of fruits one green bottle of vegetables)
Two month supply of Children’s Gummies ( Red container of fruits and green container of vegetables.
A canister of Juice Plus Complete to make protein drinks and smoothies with all the added benefits of Juice Plus in a Vanilla Powder form.

Riddle me Tuesday

It has been about two weeks since I have run riddle me Tuesday….sorry guys. I did get an email for a request back up, so I know it was missed by at least one person. Well today I went and volunteered with the school gifted and talented program, and let me tell you about a fun activity that is guaranteed to keep any kids from the ages of about 8 and up busy for at least an hour. I call it “The Advertising Game”.

I love any game that can keep kids out of your hair and cooperating with each other for a good hour with no television involved…and it is super easy too.

1. Get one cardboard box
2. Make up a name and write it on the side….today I wrote Aquanomics 3000 on the box.
3. Divide kids into teams or work as one group.
4. They now have an hour to decide what the product is in the box (using imagination) and then they must come up with a magazine ad and perform a commercial for their new product.
5. In one hour I will watch their performance and if they finish early they should just keep practicing and fine tuning it until the hour is up.

We often play this game at the house when the girls have friends over because it is a great way to foster creativity and cooperation amongst the kids. Sometimes I will just cover over a can label or something else out of the cabinet. I usually call the product something silly like whosowhatsis or thingamajig. Today we wanted the kids to come up with something that had to deal with water conservation so we added that extra rule for them.

Riddle for the day: Every day a man leaves his apartment on the 46th floor and rides the elevator down to the first floor to go to work. Every evening at about 6:00pm he gets in the elevator, takes it to the 38th floor, gets out and walks up the stairs for the remaining eight floors until he reaches the 46th floor, and his apartment. Why does he take the stairs instead of the elevator for the last eight floors?

Do you know where that Mouth has been?

Seriously, sometimes my children are just insanely weird to me…..I mean what in the heck are they thinking sometimes?
Last weekend Rebecca stayed the whole three days (yes it was blissfully silent at my house) with a very good friend of hers in a neighboring town. Now said friend has a large ranch with all the typical animals on it. Rebecca had the joy of bathing pigs to get them ready for the San Antonio Stock Show, and then going out on four wheelers to count cattle. She is very much my country girl and loved every minute of it.
So in regaling me with her stories about her weekend she started telling me about licking the cattle salt cubes. You know the ones that lie in the field full of salt and minerals for the cows? Apparently the girls thought it would taste pretty good….Okay I am completely horrified!
and then it got worse.
“Well then, mama, a cow came up and huffed at us cuz we were licking the salt block…so we backed out of her way to let her lick it….and then (friend) dared me to lick it after the cow.”
“Oh Rebecca Anne, please tell me you didn’t do it!!!!!!!”
She did….and laughed….no remorse at all.
I am disgusted!

Bender Ball Review

These past few weeks as I can see my size expanding, I am excited that I have a strategy in place for my New Years Resolution to get back in shape. With the help of The Bender Ball and the Bender Method of Core Training, I am going to be one swimsuit ready babe come Spring. This Core Training Method was developed by master trainer Leslee Bender and it targets your upper and side abdominal muscles and even the lower abs….or right where my “little pooch” is.

In my kit I got the Bender Ball, The DVD Workout, and also access to the exclusive online members section. This is great to find meal plans, a healthy eating guide, and some of Leslee’s tips to help results. This means even though I may not be on my best eating behavior through the Christmas holidays, but I can make a great turnaround, and do it in the comfort of my own home. No embarrassing myself in front of a room full of strangers who are already a perfect “6”.

Leslee Bender is a master fitness trainer with over twenty five years of experience. She has been active throughout the world where she has been involved in the presentation of different and progressive methods in all forms of fitness training.

The The Bender Ball comes with a 30-day money back guarantee that lets you try the program risk free. If for some reason, you don’t get the results you’re looking for, just send it back. They’ll refund your purchase price – no questions asked!

I am ready and excited to have my 2009 fitness program in place and ready to go. This would also be a great gift for anyone you know who will be looking for a way to lose weight come January. Want To join me in becoming a Bender Ball babe?

A special thank you to The The Bender Ball and Family Review Network for this opportunity.

Diet vs. Diet?

Rebecca is my athletic child in every sense of the word. If there is an activity going on anywhere around her she is going for it full force. She has so much energy…..but we always have to watch her sugar/caffeine intake. Since she is a little thing she can go completely hyper/nuts with just the smallest amounts.

She was telling a friend of hers the other day that she was on a diet, and her friend got completely upset….because what Rebecca meant was a healthy eating lifestyle….not a weight loss plan. The child barely weighs 65 lbs wet….I wouldn’t dream of starving her or depriving her….but still the word spread like wildfire that Rebecca was on a diet.

I had to sit down and talk to her about her word choices. She is supposed to emphasize eating healthy. Taking her Juice Plus for the extra fruits and veggies is not the same as peddling diet pill info. So now she goes forth armed with the PC correct language of a healthy diet….not a weight loss diet.

Tiny Prints: Communion Giveaway

I am a really big fan of the Tiny Prints company and just this week had placed an order with them to get Rebecca her camp stationary and address labels to make her letter writing a breeze. While I was perusing the site I came across all of their stunning Communion Invitations. You know it is that time of year again, and we live in a town that is predominantly Catholic. It never fails that every year we have a First Communion mass to attend and a party afterwards.

This year it will be for the daughter of my good friend Kelly. She has found the perfect dress, planned the celebration, and now it is time to get the invitations out. I know exactly where I will suggest she go to. Look at those gorgeous examples of Invitations I found at Tiny Prints. I know this will be a very special day for their family, and setting the tone for it with the right invitation makes all the difference.

Tiny Prints is offering one of my readers a $50 gift certificate to spend at their website. Perhaps you have something special coming up? My favorite place to “shop”

Yesterday afternoon I came home armed with 8 new pairs of shoes, 10 articles of clothing, several things for my girls, Tamales for dinner, and some more glassware to match my own in the kitchen cupboard. What fabulous place had all I was looking for and more?

My Mother’s house!

My mom’s house is my favorite place on earth to shop. Where else can you sip on tea and eat cucumber sandwiches plus refill your own wardrobe with fabulous eclectic boutique clothing. My mother’s house and style reflect the fact that she has lived all over the world, and I love that I am the recipient of everything she gets tired of even if it is just for a while.

Yesterday, I picked up the girls, and basked in the glow of compliments on my cute “new” jacket and shoes, and this morning I am happily blogging away wrapped in the most darling velvet shirt.

Thanks Mom (I think it’s because I’m the favorite….but my sister and brother argue with me on that one)

Etsy Review and Giveaway: Crown Bindery

You know less than a year ago I became aware of the whole Etsy phenomena. It is amazing I hadn’t discovered this gem of a shopping resource before then. I am in awe of all the artisans and what they are capable of.

A few weeks ago I zipped up to Austin to help my sweet sister Jennifer at a small craft fair for her MOPS (mothers of pre-schoolers) group. Jennifer and I had a table filled with hair bows, belts and buckles, and tutus. We spent the morning selling like crazy…but then came the great part…I actually got to wander and shop for myself. I fell in love with a booth called Crown Bindery and met the owner Carla. I was sitting there gushing over her binders and how absolutely gorgeous they were, when I subtly (okay not so subtle…ooops) mentioned I had a review blog that these would be awesome for.

Boy, was I in luck, because Carla, and her fabulous Etsy shop Crown Bindery had actually worked with a few bloggers, and she was thrilled to have me look at her binders, and review them. Can I just tell you this binder has become a desktop staple for me….what do I use it for?

Review blogging of course. Every time a company sends me their stat sheets along with their product, then I punch holes in the stat sheet and add them to the binder for when I need them. That way, I do not lose any of my paperwork, and all my information is handy right next to my computer. The girls have requested their own for school because they are so stylish. Carla mentioned to me how great they are for all kinds of things such as recipes and Bible studies, but really the possibilities are endless.

Crown Bindery is willing to give one of my readers a 9×11 binder of their choice. This giveaway is open to United States residents only. Please if you are commenting anonymously leave your email address so that I may get a hold of you. This giveaway will end April 20 at midnight CST

1.Mandatory First Entry: Visit Crown Bindery, and let me know what other products that you like at her site.
2. Next entry:Become a follower and leave me a separate comment telling me you are.

Bacon is not Currency

Yesterday I made a Wal-Mart run to get the girl’s school supplies. Rebeca and her good friend Kayla accompanied me to make sure I was spending my money on useless junk the perfect school supplies. Rebecca seems to think it is important if I am buying Kleenex for the class that I cannot get the generic store brand…because she like the stuff with lotion. After explaining to her that these were for the whole class not her personal use, and not everyone is as picky…she offered to cough up the extra buck in price difference for her Kleenex, and told me I could put Regan’s name on generic but not hers.

Of course I asked her to hand over the dollar first before relenting.

Anyway, we gathered the majority of the supplies, looked at acceptable lipgloss that can be worn as a 6th grader, and headed to check out to pay for everything. After emptying my cart and waiting for the lady to quote me the price, I reached into my wallet to pull out the amount.

And pulled out a piece of Bacon…….

No Kidding!!!!

The lady looked at me oddly.
My face turned beet red and the girls started laughing hysterically.
Why do I have bacon in my wallet?

I started fumbling out an apology, but by that time the cashier had lost it too and was laughing.

“Wal-Mart has a policy that we cannot accept bacon as payment” she quipped.

Which sent the girls into more howls of laughter and the entire front of the store looking my way.

I quickly shoved the bacon back in my purse and pulled out the cash, grabbed my bags and pulled the girls holding their sides to the car.

“Rebecca, why is there bacon in my purse”?
“I swear Mom it wasn’t me….maybe it was Regan”.

I drove home to find out that the other morning when we went out to breakfast with grandma after the slumber party (see next post), Regan put the bacon she wanted to save for later in my purse.

Today I learned that Bacon is not currency, and my 13 yr old thinks my purse is a doggie bag. What have you learned?
